How Is Teaching Different from Marketing?
Traditionally, teaching and marketing were completely different worlds. Teaching happened in a classroom, and marketing was what you saw on the billboards on the way home.
Now, the two worlds are intersecting, with concepts like content marketing. For example, I work as a tech advisor to CXOs, and I guide startups on how to execute projects:
You could say that this is teaching, because it helps the learner. You could say this is content marketing, because it helps me get clients. Indeed, there’s an overlap between the two concepts. But not every piece of teaching is marketing, and not every piece of marketing is teaching.
