The Best Cars for Each Category
If your requirements are similar to mine:
The best car is the petrol Audi A6 luxury sedan.
The best car for 23 lakhs is the Verna.
The best car for 12 lakh is the Baleno.
The best car for 9 lakh is the Wagon R.
The best city car is the Windsor1. This is assuming you don’t even go to nearby places like Nandi Hills or Mysore (if you’re in Bangalore). In other words, the car should never leave the city. This is feasible only if you anyway need two cars for your family.
The best chauffeur-driven SUV is the Mercedes EQS SUV.2
Assuming you don’t even go to nearby places like Nandi Hills or Mysore. In other words, the car should never leave the city.
The best MPV is the Carens. (I didn’t do an extended test drive of the BYD eMax 7, so you should, before buying the Carens.)
The best SUV is the Thar Roxx. Note that an SUV means a vehicle with a body-on-frame construction and not front-wheel-drive. These are suitable for off-roading, towing and rough usage. Most cars in India marketed as SUVs are actually crossovers. In this blog post, when I say SUV, I mean a true SUV.
The best SUV-cum-MPV is the Scorpio N. In other words, if you want a single car that does SUV duties and MPV duties (carrying 6 people at once or long loads).
My use cases don’t match an SUV or MPV, so take my recommendations for these with a grain of salt.
